BlogCircleBannerWelcome to our LATEST edition of LightBox Stories Blog Circle!  If you are visiting from Rachel of Seasons of Life Photography page, I am SO glad you are here!  My name is Anna Robertson, and I am a Family and Lifestyle Portrait Photographer in Northern California.  This year along with all the photographers in the LIGHTBOX STORIES blog circle, I am capturing our family’s life in one image a day.  I am so EXCITED to be partnering with this group of talented photographers from around the world!  Being a part of this group means we have people who encourage, challenge and help us along the way of our 365 journey. Thanks for looking at the images of my life and reading my story!  Please be sure to read through to the bottom and follow the blog circle around the globe, you don’t want to miss ANY of the TALENTED photographers:-)

This month, May,  has been DOMINATED by the house!  Our move in date is definitely getting closer:-)  We have also seen a few milestones with our boys, which is SO fun, and is a reminder to appreciate everyday as time goes by so fast!  There are no themes other than this is our life and I LOVE it:-) Included in our life is the journey of building a house!  Somedays it’s exciting and others it’s just HARD, but over the past years I have been learning to embrace and find JOY in the Messy Life that is ours:-) The following are my favorite images of the month:-)  I hope you enjoy!

This week brought kids cooking, our first dinner at the new house, bike riding accomplishments and fun with the boys:-)  It has been SUPER busy, but we are enjoying the ride, although I must say we are ready to be done with the housebuilding season;-)  I am SO thankful to be part of LIGHTBOX STORIES and be inspired and encouraged by them to continue to tell my story.  Being a family and lifestyle portrait photographer I “sometimes” focus on documenting other people’s families through pictures, prints, art, and albums, and neglect to capture the memories of my own family:-)  This year I am trying to make sure that doesn’t happen:-)  AND as I keep challenging myself and shooting, I aim to improve my storytelling images so that not only does my family benefit, BUT you do too! It’s win-win!  Thanks for looking at the images of my life and reading my story!

With Daniel’s cooking kit, has come a DEEP DESIRE to cook!  And with Holden approaching 9, I thought it was time to teach them some things.  This night for dinner they chopped and steamed the veggies:-)  Which meant Daniel used a sharp knife, and Holden used the stove for the first time!  They did awesome!365_142_Blog

Our first dinner at the new house!  Pizza al fresco!  With guests even!  You can see our fridge through the window, and some of the cabinets are up!  I can hardly contain my excitement!  Looking forward to MANY more:-)365_143_Blog144|365

The little guy learned to ride with only TWO wheels!  He just got on it and started off!  Pretty much he did not stop after.  It seemed as if he has been riding FOREVER!  I am SO proud, and we have now entered a new season, one that hopefully involves family bike rides:-)365_144_Blog

EVERY chance he gets he is on his bike now!  Every chance! I am so glad we figured out that our property had a decent flat area to ride on!365_145_Blog146|365

“Mom, why are you on the ground?  Why are you photographing a snail?”  I couldn’t pass up the shadows, texture and this little guy:-)

THIS guy, I love our mornings in between dropping Daniel off and his drop off.  Somedays we just talk and talk.  Others its about math facts, or reading, or some invention he is thinking about.  It’s pretty awesome, and I am SO blessed to be his mama:-)365_147_Blog

SO…we are getting A LOT of deliveries.  No joke, the FedEX and UPS delivery people, know we are the people building the house next door, and they now chat it up with us when they deliver boxes to us.  The boxes, OY ! they are overtaking our small space!  It’s really never felt smaller.365_135_Blog

I can’t believe it’s already been a year since I took these senior portraits!  Where does the time go?  If you are like me, watching your kids grow at lightening speed, you totally get it.  I don’t want to even think how fast my boys will be at this stage!

I was DELIGHTED when Kathleen’s dad contacted me about doing Kathleen’s senior portraits!  Kathleen is a budding photographer, and getting ready to embark on a new season of life that is, “Life after Highschool:-)”  She also happens to be SUPER close with Roxy, one of my other seniors this past year!  It has been fun to watch these girls grow into the women they have become, and an honor to document this season of life for them!

After talking about what kind of images she wanted, and the outfits that she would bring, we decided on Royer Park in Roseville, CA as our starting point, planning on venturing over to the town square as we went.  I LOVE Royer Park, it has amazing trees, creek, and some hidden walls, that are SO fun!

KathleenSenior_01_Blog

This wall is a favorite of mine, BUT it only works with neutral outfits, SO I was excited to be able to use it!  Kathleen was so natural in front of the camera, and she is such a beautiful person inside and out it made my job EASY.

KathleenSenior_12_BlogKathleenSenior_23_Blog

After a quick outfit change we decided to venture out of the park.  This footbridge is an icon of Roseville, I lOVE it’s rust, and the surrounding trees!  It was fun to hang out and hear about Kathleen’s dreams and plans for life, as well as I got to catch up with her mom, who is truly one of my favorite people on this earth!

This is ONE of my favorites, the real deal is coming up soon:-)

When I photograph seniors, I like to ask them about themselves, what makes them, THEM.  BUT I also like to ask them what their favorite picture of themselves is, one that truly captures who they are. I also ask this of the parents.  Kathleen’s mom said, she always thinks of the funny selfies Kathleen and her friends take, so I wanted to document that:-)  I LOVE this shot and it is my favorite from the session, but also one of my all time favorite senior captures!  She nailed it!

After the “formals” if you can call them that:-)  I love to capture YOU, so formals are not necessarily what I do.  We decided to have some fun with the cap and gown.  These jumping ones were FUN!

LOTS of parents, are using this book to commemorate their child’s school years.  I LOVE that we captured it in this session.  And, thats a WRAP!  Hats of to this SENIOR! 🙂

KathleenSenior_106_Blog

Thank you Kathleen, you are such a beautiful young woman, I can’t wait to see what this next season holds!  Thank you Erin for trusting me to capture this SPECIAL, SPECIAL season in your little girl’s life!

What’s YOUR story? Are you entering a new season, and want images to capture who you are RIGHT NOW, in THIS season?  Are you looking at your kids and wondering, where the time goes, and how they got so big?  Do you want to celebrate who THEY are RIGHT now?  I would love to tell YOUR SENIOR’S story, and CAPTURE YOUR LIFE!   Send me an EMAIL, and we will grab a coffee and get to know each other!
