Family portraits are SO fun to capture!  I REALLY love it when I get to capture adult children, with their families and their parents!  We don’t always think to do it, but what a great way to document and cherish generations!  So when Sandy asked me to capture her family, when they would all be in the states and in California, I of course said YES!  I met Sandy through my Modern School Portrait work, and instantly fell in love with her personality and heart. It was an honor to be asked to document this time.  We had one day available, when everyone would be in town at the same time.  Sandy’s daughters live in Texas AND Chile, with their families, so you can see why getting all together for pictures might be difficult!

Thankfully I was able to make my schedule work with that one date…(I would have TOTALLY made it work anyway I could, because…I LOVE Sandy:-))  We decided on Old Sacramento, for the location, it has so much variety, and is really great with kids, because of the trains, and basic run around space:-)  I LOVE to have my families INTERACT, so that I can capture some of who they are not just a nice portrait.  It’s really important to me that when you see the images, you see YOU, or THEM.  That’s something that I know Sandy LOVES about the Modern School Portraits I do, so I REALLY wanted her to see that in these!

Based on the email she sent me after she saw her gallery, I am pretty sure I got it right with these! I LOVE client feedback, especially when the clients tell me they CHERISH the images:-)

We started with the whole family, and went from there.  There was a TON of laughing during this session, as well as a little crying, but thankfully that was just the little ones!

This guy wasn’t feeling so hot, but everything is always better in mama’s arms!  While I know it’s very important to capture that one family portrait, I love to capture the in between, and the moments that are REAL, and timely for this season of life!  So I typically include lots of these as well:-)  They tell the whole story of the day, the season, and the family.

I ALWAYS try and capture mom + dad off together, I mean how often do you have pictures taken?  I know I cherish the images I have of my husband and I as we celebrate year after year of being together, and LOVE.  Couples are often hesitant, but I always hear how much they LOVE them and cherish this reminder and documentation of their love in the midst of the chaos of young family life!

THANK YOU, Sandy + Family for the HONOR of capturing your family portraits, I fell in love with you all!  I hope you cherish these images for generations to come!  I know living so far away from each other is hard, but I hope you had fun and made some great memories as you were together this summer.  And hopefully these images bring you back to this time, when you are so far apart.

What’s YOUR story? Do you need new family images to tell that story on your walls, or in a book on your coffee table?  Are you looking at your kids and wondering, where the time goes, and how they got so big?  Do you want to celebrate who THEY are RIGHT now?  I would love to tell YOUR FAMILY’S story, and CAPTURE YOUR LIFE!   Send me an EMAIL, and we will grab a coffee and get to know each other!

  • Wendy Burgan - Your talents are beyond words at times… These are absolutely amazing. A bit biased because I know and LOVE this family but your ability to capture them as I know them speaks volumes.. You made the physical miles they are all apart feel a little closer! BRAVO!ReplyCancel

Every year I donate a session or two to some local schools for their annual fundraisers.  Jacqui, contacted me after having the winning bid at my niece’s school auction!  She was very excited for Family Portraits and we got to planning it right away!  She knew she wanted somewhere “rustic with a barn”.  After a little looking around, I found the Bayley Barn in Pilot Hill…I knew it would be perfect, but I was afraid it would be too far of a drive, luckily they were up for it, and we met for some beautiful Family Portraits, and hopefully at least a little fun:-)

The kids were ready to go, so I got started with their individuals, they are all so full of personality and gorgeous! SUPER easy to capture!

LunsfordFamily_01_BlogLunsfordFamily_04_BlogThis little guy is FULL of energy, spunk, and personality!

LunsfordFamily_05_BlogLOVE this! The outfits were perfect for this spot and the family!

LunsfordFamily_09_BlogThe little guy?  His favorite thing to do is wrestle with his siblings, and apparently tickle them!  I got to see examples of both!  It was quite fun!

LunsfordFamily_10_BlogThis image is a favorite!  AND I love that THIS was the choice for a large metal print!LunsfordFamily_16_Blog

The grounds around the barn are great too!  This family LOVES each other and that is evident throughout their images!  They are just easy and comfortable and interact so naturally with each other, they were a JOY to capture!LunsfordFamily_19_Blog

I am pretty sure, RIGHT before this shot he was tackling both of them!  OR maybe right after!

Jacqui, THANK YOU for helping me give back to CCS Lincoln, AND more importantly for the honor of capturing your beautiful family, and helping you get some images on your walls!  Your family is precious, and in such a sweet season!

This month, November,  was SO insane!  I was SO busy in fact, I again forgot to grab my camera A LOT of days!  We had actual weather, photo events, travel for holidays, and photo sessions AND a very early Christmas present, which probably means December is going to send me over the edge;-)  Just kidding, I hope!  This month still contains some phone shots, but I am definitely bringing out the big camera, sometimes even capturing a moment with both:-)   I am LOVING capturing our life’s story, the good, the messy, and the boring, it is all part of who we are and where we are in life right now! That is why I am SO honored when I get to capture a snippet of your life, and stop time in the images I capture.  So that years from  now, or maybe just weeks you will look back and smile at who you were then, and remember to enjoy the beauty that is your life right now, even if it feels messy today!   The following are my favorite images of the month:-)  I hope you enjoy!

This month, OCTOBER,  was SO busy!  SO busy in fact, I forgot to grab my camera A LOT of days!  We had actual weather, photo events, friends for dinner, friends having babies, field trips, new phones, and of course Halloween!  SO after October 16, most of my images were captured on my new iPhone…I don’t love that fact but it was new, and easier to carry than my big camera.  But since, all my low light Halloween pictures…I have gone back to having my big camera, I just love it so much, but I am challenged to figure out the potential of the awesome iPhone camera:-)   I am LOVING capturing our life’s story, the good, the messy, and the boring, it is all part of who we are and where we are in life right now!
