The Morris Family | Old Sacramento Family Portraits

Family portraits are SO fun to capture!  I REALLY love it when I get to capture adult children, with their families and their parents!  We don’t always think to do it, but what a great way to document and cherish generations!  So when Sandy asked me to capture her family, when they would all be in the states and in California, I of course said YES!  I met Sandy through my Modern School Portrait work, and instantly fell in love with her personality and heart. It was an honor to be asked to document this time.  We had one day available, when everyone would be in town at the same time.  Sandy’s daughters live in Texas AND Chile, with their families, so you can see why getting all together for pictures might be difficult!

Thankfully I was able to make my schedule work with that one date…(I would have TOTALLY made it work anyway I could, because…I LOVE Sandy:-))  We decided on Old Sacramento, for the location, it has so much variety, and is really great with kids, because of the trains, and basic run around space:-)  I LOVE to have my families INTERACT, so that I can capture some of who they are not just a nice portrait.  It’s really important to me that when you see the images, you see YOU, or THEM.  That’s something that I know Sandy LOVES about the Modern School Portraits I do, so I REALLY wanted her to see that in these!

Based on the email she sent me after she saw her gallery, I am pretty sure I got it right with these! I LOVE client feedback, especially when the clients tell me they CHERISH the images:-)

We started with the whole family, and went from there.  There was a TON of laughing during this session, as well as a little crying, but thankfully that was just the little ones!

This guy wasn’t feeling so hot, but everything is always better in mama’s arms!  While I know it’s very important to capture that one family portrait, I love to capture the in between, and the moments that are REAL, and timely for this season of life!  So I typically include lots of these as well:-)  They tell the whole story of the day, the season, and the family.

I ALWAYS try and capture mom + dad off together, I mean how often do you have pictures taken?  I know I cherish the images I have of my husband and I as we celebrate year after year of being together, and LOVE.  Couples are often hesitant, but I always hear how much they LOVE them and cherish this reminder and documentation of their love in the midst of the chaos of young family life!

THANK YOU, Sandy + Family for the HONOR of capturing your family portraits, I fell in love with you all!  I hope you cherish these images for generations to come!  I know living so far away from each other is hard, but I hope you had fun and made some great memories as you were together this summer.  And hopefully these images bring you back to this time, when you are so far apart.

What’s YOUR story? Do you need new family images to tell that story on your walls, or in a book on your coffee table?  Are you looking at your kids and wondering, where the time goes, and how they got so big?  Do you want to celebrate who THEY are RIGHT now?  I would love to tell YOUR FAMILY’S story, and CAPTURE YOUR LIFE!   Send me an EMAIL, and we will grab a coffee and get to know each other!

  • Wendy Burgan - Your talents are beyond words at times… These are absolutely amazing. A bit biased because I know and LOVE this family but your ability to capture them as I know them speaks volumes.. You made the physical miles they are all apart feel a little closer! BRAVO!ReplyCancel
